Description

Sculptor John Paulding's "Ready" is the centerpiece of Northampton's World War I memorial, as well as at least 10 other World War I memorials in the US. Cast by Chicago's American Art Bronze Foundry, it depicts a standing figure of a World War I doughboy with his proper right hand on his hip and his proper left hand holding his rifle in front of him. The sculpture rests atop a square base adorned on the front with a bronze honor roll plaque.
